Tahirah A. Moore

Director of Community Engagement

Tahirah A. Moore brings over 15 years of community engagement, relationship building, and government relations experience to the SoundThinking organization. She served as the Deputy Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, Senior Advisor for Criminal Justice and Public Safety, and Brooklyn Borough Director of Community Affairs for NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio’s Administration. Additionally, Tahirah has served on Capitol Hill in the capacity of Constituent Visitor Assistant in the United States Senate and as a Washington Fellow in the House of Representatives. Moreover, Ms. Moore served as Director of Constituent Services and Legislative Aide in the NYC Council, prior to joining the Administration of Mayor de Blasio. As a well-known advocate against gun violence, Tahirah has helped manage NYC’s Crisis Management System, worked on the legislation that formed NYC’s first “Mayor’s Office to Prevent Gun Violence,” and has partnered with the NYPD in developing strategies around preventing gun violence. “My heart and prayer is to do my part to eradicate this disease we call gun violence. SoundThinking is doing the real work and not just talking about it. I am honored to be a part of a team that is just as committed to this work as I am.” Tahirah Moore matriculated from Liberty University in Virginia. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Government: Politics and Policy (Cum Laude). Tahirah is excited to bring all of her experience, skills, and passion to SoundThinking in the role of the Director of Community Engagement.
